Dr. Vasil Georgiev Angelov is a Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mining Electromechanics of the University of Mining and Geology “St.I.Rilski”, Sofia, Bulgaria.

His research areas:
• Differential Equations with Deviating Arguments;
• Fixed Point Theory;
• Classical Electrodynamics, Classical Field Theory;
• Transmission Line Theory and Circuits Theory.

In 1973, Vasil Angelov graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, subject “Numerical Mathematics.”

In 1981, he defended his Ph.D. Thesis entitled “On the fundamental theory of neutral functional-differential equations in Banach spaces”.

In 2004, Dr. Angelov defended a dissertation entitled “Analysis of transmission lines with nonlinear loads by fixed point method” for “Doctor of Sciences”.

He started his employment in 1976 as Mathematician at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, Sofia University.

In 1978–1983, Dr. Vasil Angelov worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Inorganic, Analytical and Physical Chemistry and Mathematics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University, Sofia, and in 1983–1985, as the Senior Assistant Professor, at the same Department.

In 1985–2007, he was Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mining Electro-mechanics, University of Mining and Geology “St.I.Rilski”. Since 2007, he has been a Professor at the same Department.

He held several administrative positions, including the Chair of the Department of Mathematics (1993–1999, 2001–2003, 2004–2008, 2008–2020); the Vice Dean of Mining Electromechanical Faculty (1993); and the Vice-Rector of University of Mining and Geology “St.I.Rilski” (1999–2003).

Prof. Dr. Angelov has written and published several textbooks, such as “Mathematical Analysis – Functions of One Variable” (Sofia, 1996, 2002); “Manual on Linear Algebra” (Sofia, 1994); “Mathematical Analysis – Functions of Several Variables” (Sofia, 2007), and many others.

Among his professional activities, membership in several national and international editorial boards (Bulgarian Institute for Analysis and Investigations; International Journal of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics; Journal of Mathematical Sciences and Applications; Bulletin of The Allahabad Mathematical Society (India)). He is a Peer Reviewer at “Zentralblatt für Mathemik” and a Referee for the journal “Applied Mathematics E-notes” (Taiwan).

Professor Angelov is a member of several professional societies, including the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians, American Mathematical Society, and the European Centre for Research Training and Development, UK. In 1994–1996, he was a New York Academy of Sciences member.

He actively participated in numerous conferences and organizing committees in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Azerbaijan, and France; gave invited talks, keynote and plenary speeches, and lectures in Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, Romania, Spain, Germany, etc.

Recent Achievements

The scientific achievements of Prof. Dr. Vasil Angelov:
• Equations of motion for the 3-body problem of classical electrodynamics are derived, and an existence-uniqueness of a periodic solution is proved;
• Spin equations for the 3-body problem are derived;
• The two-body Kepler problem is investigated, which implies the existence of Bohr-Sommerfeld stationary states in the frame of classical electrodynamics;
• It is shown the existence of trajectories from one stationary state to another one.

Prof. Angelov is the author of 2 monographs, 3 chapters of monographs, and about 150 scientific papers. Among his recent publications:
