During this challenging time, we believe it is important to pay tribute and honor the scientists and innovators worldwide for their tireless efforts to conduct research that impacts human society and the planet.

The Scientist of the Year Open International Competition celebrates significant research, seminal discoveries, and outstanding achievements in science. Designed mainly for scientists, engineers, and researchers from emerging and developing countries, it aims to highlight all the remarkable achievements that scientists in these countries have shown over the years.

The International Competition "Scientist of the Year" provides considerable visibility to science and, therefore, is an ideal niche to promote the professional growth of scientists and researchers. Creating such an effective platform serves as an inspiration for scientists from various countries to achieve high professional results. At the same time, this platform unites researchers throughout the world by making available the demonstration of scientific achievements, opening up a field for dialogue, and helping foresight further steps in the development of science and education worldwide. This platform increases the visibility of scientific work and publishing of research results and achievements, assists in expanding networking with fellow scientists, and provides support for the strengthening of scientific research capacities in the contestants' countries.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to scientists, engineers, researchers, and innovators from all over the world. Everyone who has notable scientific achievements is eligible to apply. Whether you are embarking on your professional journey, beginning to accelerate your career, or aspiring to grow your accomplishments further, the "Scientist of the Year” Open International Competition is your platform to develop and network with like-minded leaders worldwide.

All ages may participate in the Competition, including experienced scientists, engineers, researchers, innovators, and students engaged in scientific activities, graduate students, young scientists, and others without degrees.

Self-nominations are welcome.

Besides the self-nomination mechanism of the Competition, IARC has a Selection Committee that is responsible for the search, selection process, and pre-qualification of potential candidates. To select the candidates who deserve to be awarded the title "Scientist of the Year", the Committee members conduct research based on permanent monitoring and content analysis of media, documents, and Internet sources. In addition, the Committee members use recommendations coming from academia and universities peers, scientific centers and enterprises, as well as from independent scientists and researchers, etc.

Procedure

Stage 1. Online application

Submit your online application to take part in the Competition. For that, click Enter the Competition, and fill in all required fields in the application form. Once your application is completed, click the button Submit.

You will be requested to enter your brief biography and information about your past and recent achievements, and upload a photo portrait and thematic photographs illustrating your professional activity and achievements.

When completing the application form, you may attach any supporting materials, which, in your opinion, can contribute to winning the Competition. If you don't have them on hand at the moment, you can email them later to competition@achievementscenter.com.

These may be letters of support from your peers and colleagues; evidence of your membership in professional societies and other national and international recognition; chairmanship/keynoting at the scientific conferences; patents, licenses, and certificates; a list of your publications; honors and awards received; links to video data, and so on. All materials must be submitted in English.

Please note that once you have started filling out your application, you will not be able to save it and return later. Prepare your answers beforehand.

Stage 2. Get approval

All submitted nominations undergo an initial screening process by the IARC Review Committee, and only those who have met all criteria are selected for the Open International Competition. Nominations are evaluated on a rolling basis, and once your application is accepted or rejected, we will notify you via email of your status.

Stage 3. Make a payment

Participation in the Competition is free of charge to enter. The registration fee is only applicable if your application has successfully passed the prejudging phase. Once your application is approved, you will receive via email a confirmation along with an invoice to make your payment. The second and third stages of the competitive process for your candidacy will begin only after your registration fee has been paid. The payment is non-refundable.

The nominees can pay the registration fee or be sponsored by their host institution or funding agency.

The registration fee covers expenses for:
• Creation, editing, design, and publication of the Winner's personal web page on the official website of International Achievements Research Center;
• Registration of a Certificate of Recognition and sending it to the Winner;
• Production of the "Emblem of the Winner" in two formats and sending it to the Winner;
• Dissemination of information about the Winner on the official resources of International Achievements Research Center (website and official pages on social networks (Facebook, Twitter);
• Ensuring and maintaining the work of the IARC Selection Committee, IARC Review Committee, international experts, and IARC Judging Committee;
• Promotion of information about the Competition and its contestants and winners on the Internet.

The Competitions’ nominees represent active contributors to advancing and promoting the cause of innovation and science development in the world. A percentage of every nomination fee is a contribution used to help tell the broader story of innovation and scientific achievements and to fund programs and conferences dedicated to science, technology, and education.

Stage 4. Judging

Once your application has been approved by the IARC Review Committee and your invoice is paid, your nomination will be included in the register of confirmed nominations. All nominations that passed those stages are reviewed by the experts. Here, the nominations will be judged on the following criteria, including but not limited to:
Significant and original contribution of a Contestant to basic and/or applied research in their field of expertise;
 Number of publications and/or issued patents;
 Mentoring of graduate students, postdocs, staff members, visiting scientists, and so on, or successful management records, etc.

Finally, the nominations that have passed all selecting stages are sent to the Judging Committee, which makes decisions regarding the finalist candidatures. The Judging Committee’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning their decision.

Stage 5. Certificate of Recognition

If your candidacy is determined to be a Winner, in recognition of your leadership and outstanding professional achievements, you will be awarded a prestigious Certificate of Recognition! The Certificate of Recognition confirms your status as a Winner of the “Scientist of the Year” Open International Competition.

What makes the Certificate of Recognition exclusive, is that your Certificate will contain a QR code with the link to your personal web page published on the International Achievements Research Center's official website. Anyone interested can easily find your personal web page and learn more about you, your achievements, and your win in the “Scientist of the Year” Open International Competition.

The Certificate of Recognition is of great distinction to the Winner and highlights the substantial value of an unbiased third-party endorsement. You are encouraged to use the Certificate of Recognition which confirms your win in the “Scientist of the Year” Open International Competition on your own publicity, etc.

The Certificate of Recognition will be sent to you via e-mail with the ability to be printed and displayed. You also can order sending the Certificate to your address by ordinary mail or be personally awarded a Certificate of Recognition at the Gala Awards Ceremony. This solemn ceremony is held as part of the International Achievements Forum, which takes place in Ottawa (ON, Canada), Chicago (IL, USA), and other major cities of the world (in both cases, an extra fee is required).

Stage 6. Emblem "Scientist of the Year Winner"

As a Winner, you will obtain the right to use the Emblem "Scientist of the Year Winner" to promote your win.

The Emblem amplifies society's awareness and communicates that a scientist, engineer, or researcher has been awarded the prestigious Certificate of Recognition for leadership and outstanding professional achievements. It promotes your accomplishments, increases its scientific and technological value, confirms its importance and significance to prospective investors and business decision-makers, and highlights your international recognition. The Emblem enables the Winner to stand out prominently, separating from the competitors.

You can use the Emblem "Scientist of the Year Winner" on your own publicity, print this Emblem on your books, articles, and monographs, place it on your website and your official pages on social networks, display it in your office, and many other ways.

If you use the Emblem "Scientist of the Year Winner" to signify one or more of your wins in the Open International Competitions, you agree to use them AS IS. You agree to not alter them in any way other than to resize them. The Emblem may be used for promotional purposes only. It may not be used to produce keepsakes, mementos, or mock awards.

Recognition of the Winners

Once the IARC Judging Committee has cast its final decision, details of the Scientist of the Year Winners are announced and will be made public via the International Achievements Research Center website and its official pages on social networks.

The winners of the Competition may be invited to take part in the Gala Awards Ceremony. The Ceremony is held in the framework of the International Achievements Forum which takes place in Ottawa, ON and Montreal, QC (Canada), New York, NY and Chicago, IL (USA), and other major cities of the world. Besides, intermediate results can be announced on the IARC official media resources and other events hosted by IARC and its partners worldwide.

We encourage all winners to publicly announce their wins independently. Announcements via company websites, social media, publicly released press releases, and through the local and national press are all great ways of maximizing the exposure which can be gained from such an amazing achievement.

Every year, to determine the best scientists, International Achievements Research Center solicits nominations from a broad range of audiences, including scientific institutions and departments, commercial scientific production companies, local, national, and international science & technology centers, universities, and academia from around the world.

We encourage you to submit a candidacy of a scientist you feel is deserving of recognition. Using the online submission form, individuals and organizations may nominate up to three scientists, researchers, and engineers, including previously nominated candidacies that have not been inducted.
