Oleh Bodnar studied at Bukovinian State Medical Academy from 1992 to 1998 and graduated it with Honor. After that he was enrolled in the Department of General Surgery for a Master's Degree in "Surgery". The subject of Master's Degree report was “The Role of Human Tissue Fibrinolysis in the Development of Adhesive Disease and Adhesive Intestinal Obstruction”. He holds a Master's Degree in Surgery since 2000.
Dr. Bodnar studied at the Postgraduate Course at the Department of Pediatric Surgery. He defended his PhD in 2003 and his Doctor of Science thesis in 2011. The subject of PhD thesis is “Treatment and Prevention of Peritoneal Commissures in Children Following Endured Acute Surgical Diseases of the Organs of the Peritoneal Cavity (the Clinic-Experimental Research)”. The subject of his Doctor of Science thesis is “Ground of the Treatment Methods of Surgical Pathology of Ileocecal Segment in Children (Clinical-Experimental Investigation)” that was defended in Bogomolets National Medical University in Kiev, Ukraine. In 2014 Dr. Bodnar received his Professor's Degree.
Since 2015, Professor Dr. Bodnar has headed the Pediatric Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology Department. Specialist Qualification: Doctor Specialist in General Surgeon (general surgeon) and Pediatric Surgery (pediatric surgeon), surgeon of newborn, pediatric proctologist, pediatric urologist, pediatric gynecologist, neurosurgeon. He has the highest qualification in the field of general surgery (surgeon of the highest category), as well as the highest qualification in the field of pediatric surgery (pediatric surgeon of the highest category). Prof. Dr. Bodnar is engaged in scientific research of chronic constipation, adhesive disease, intra-abdominal trauma in children, ileal atresia, hypospadias, and function recovery after spinal bifida. He has more than 175 scientific article-works, 4 monographs, 12 patents of Ukraine.
Prof. Dr. Bodnar is a member of European Pediatric Surgeons Association (since 2016).
Prof. Dr. Bodnar participated as a Moderator at the 13th World Pediatric Congress (December 05-06, 2019, Rome, Italy) where he delivered the keynote presentations “Spina Bifida: Features of Surgical Treatment on Lumbosacral Area in Infants” and “Adhesive Disease in Children: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, Management and Prevention”. Dr. Bodnar has been actively participating in various international projects, among them the International scientific-practical conference “Education and Science: Remembering the Past”; a project where Prof. Dr. Bodnar delivered a cycle of lectures for Haitian surgeons through ZOOM platform during COVID-19 quarantine (2020), and many others.
In 2018 on behalf of ERASMUS+ program Prof. Dr. Bodnar delivered the lectures for medical students on various pediatric surgical topics in Università degli Studi di Foggia, Italy.
In 2017 and 2018 on behalf of Fondazione Francesca Rava (Italy) Prof. Dr. Bodnar served as a volunteer in Haiti, at St. Damien's Pediatric Hospital, where he performed a number of complex surgeries, and also delivered lectures for Haitian’s surgeons.
