Petr Skleniča obtained his Master’s degree from the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, in the 1987. In 1987 – 1989, he had an Academic fellowship there.
In 1989-1993, he obtained his Ph.D. - Research internship at the Department of Land Use and Improvement.
Professor Skleniča’s career is inextricably linked with his university. He started it in 1993 at the position of Assistant Professor.
In 2003-2009, he is an Associate Professor at CULS.
In 2006, winter semester, he is a Visiting Professor at Utah State University, USA.
In 2007-2015, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Czech University of Life Sciences.
In 2015-2018, the Vice-Dean for Science and Research, FES, CULS.
From 2009 to present, Petr Skleniča is a Professor of Landscape Ecology.
From 2018, he is the Rector, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
Prof. Dr. Petr Skleniča has more than 330 studies, plans and projects, and 88 publications in the fields of agriculture research, environmental science, forest management, landscape planning and ecology, among others. In 2022, his number of citation on Research Gate increased significantly and exceeded 300, having there 1,973 citations in total.
Prof. Dr. Skleniča is a member of the Scientific Board of the Czech Ministry of Environment, the Charles University in Prague, the Ameliorations and Land Protection Research Institute Prague, and the Crop Research Institute Prague.
Professor Skleniča is the Chairman of the Module Board for Applied and Landscape Ecology, CULS, and a member of the Module Board for Architecture and Urbanism, Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University.
He is a member of several international and national scientific associations, such as IALE, GfÖ, etc.
Prof. Dr. Petr Skleniča is the Associate Editor of the "International Journal of Mining, Reclamation and Environment", Taylor & Francis.
