Prof. Dr. Padmanabhan Krishnan is a distinguished scholar in Materials Engineering, with a specialized focus on Composite and Smart Materials Engineering, integrating experimental research, computational modeling, and engineering applications. He obtained his M.Sc. (Engineering) and Ph.D. (Engineering) in Fibre Reinforced Composites from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, completing both with distinction.

He further advanced his expertise through postdoctoral research at internationally recognized institutions, including the University of Delaware (USA), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and the Singapore-MIT Alliance, developing a strong foundation in multiscale materials behavior, numerical simulation, and structural analysis.

Prof. Krishnan currently serves as Professor, Higher Academic Grade in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, where he has also contributed to academic leadership as Director of the Academic Staff College, strengthening faculty development and institutional capacity. His involvement in institutional advancement includes contributions to AICTE-aligned curriculum development and initiatives supporting VIT’s Institution of Eminence status.

His research interests encompass composite and smart materials technology, digital printing, finite element methods, fracture and failure analysis, and product development, reflecting a rigorous integration of Materials Science, Mechanics, and Engineering Design methodologies.
