University of Kigali (UoK) is one of the leading private higher learning institutions in Rwanda. It is the 4th best university and a fully-accredited university chartered by the Government of the Republic of Rwanda. It started operations in October 2013 upon receiving a definitive license to operate as a private university.

The University of Kigali’s main campus is located in Kacyiru, next to Kigali Heights, about 3 km from Kigali City Centre.

Due to its rapid expansion and in order to take services to the local populace, in 2015, UoK opened a new campus in Musanze District, Northern Province of Rwanda, housed in the prestigious RSSB Building.

The University has 6 schools, namely the School of Business Management and Economics; the School of Computing and IT; the School of Education; the School of Law; the School of Graduate Studies; and the School of Professional and Executive Programmes.

The University has an International Office, as well as international students from Nigeria, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Malawi, China, Turkey, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Chad, etc., that is an indication of its drive towards internationalization and excellence.

University of Kigali also has several international exchange programs with universities in Kenya, Ghana, Europe, and AIESEC, as well as the Erasmus and Erasmus+, which are exchange programs with German students through the support of the European Union.

University of Kigali has outstanding achievements:

1. UoK moved one rank higher to become the #4 University in Rwanda (Webometrics University Rankings (Rwanda), 2022).

2. UoK faculty were named among the 30-best scholars in Rwanda (Webometrics Rankings (Rwanda), 2022).

3. UoK Deputy Vice-Chancellor - Academic (DVCA) received the South African Educational Research Award (SAERA) for the year 2022.

4. UoK partnered with globally-acclaimed universities and scholars to enhance the research skills of faculty and students.

5. UoK constantly improved curricula and delivery methods to give incomparable experiences to students.

6. UoK students participated and won awards in several local and international competitions and conferences.
