Prof. Dr. Veaceslav Manolachi was born on March 27, 1958, at Straseni district, Republic of Moldova.
His assertion as a highly qualified researcher and manager in the university and academic environment is based on successful undergraduate studies at the State Pedagogical University "Ion Creanga" (class of 1983), specialization in Physical Education and Sports, as well as doctoral and postdoctoral studies followed at the Academy of Physical Education and Sport "PF Lesgaft" from St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.
The research undertaken, as well as the results obtained, materialized in scientific publications of high theoretical and applied value: book titles included in 11 monographs, 5 manuals, 20 scientific-methodical works, 17 certificates of registration of copyright and related rights objects, and over 170 papers.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Theoretical-Scientific Journal "The Science of Physical Culture" (Category B).
Also, Prof. Dr. Manolachi’s professional activity is reflected in his capacity as a member of the Scientific Committee of some prestigious scientific journals and international scientific manifestations.
The professional and research activity was completed through his participation as Director / member of the research in national and international projects.
The didactic, scientific and organizational activity is crowned with the career advancement from the position of University Lecturer to the position of Department Head; Head of the Main Sports Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science; Rector of the State University of Physical Education and Sport; University Professor at the “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galați Cross-border Faculty; President of the Judo Federation of the Republic of Moldova (2000-2016), President of the Federation of Student Sports and Sports Veterans (2017-present); Vice President of the Institutionalized Arbitration Court; Merited Coach of the Republic of Moldova. All this indicates that Prof. Dr. Veaceslav Manolachi possesses remarkable qualities as a pedagogue, researcher and manager of university education and academic scientific research.
Dr. Manolachi determined the founding and development of a national scientific school in the field of Physical Culture and Sports marked by thematic scientific research carried out in 18 doctoral theses and 4 postdoctoral theses, under his guidance.
Currently, his vast scientific potential is successfully exploited in the university academic environment, such as: Knight of the "Gloria Muncii" Order; Knight of the "Republic Order"; Holder of the Gold Medal of the World and European Judo Federation; the Olympic Order of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and Armenia; Name in World Science Socrates Oxford, United Kingdom; Order "Dimitrie Cantemir" of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova; Laureate of the Peter I Academy of Sciences and Arts Award, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, etc.
Prof. Dr. Veaceslav Manolachi has been honored with a Doctor Honoris Causa by 14 universities around the world, including the Oxford Academic Union, UK.
• Substantiated the scientific direction of the management and sustainable development of the national sport;
• Scientifically substantiated the Strategy for the Preparation of the Olympic Team for the 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo, Japan and the concrete training measures in the Olympic Cycle taking into account the altitude training; elaboration of the competitive model in terms of natural factors, geographical location and ecological status of Tokyo;
• Contributed to the development of the theory and didactics of selection in Olympic Sports events, implicitly the selection methodology in Olympic Sports at the early stage, specialization, performance and duration, and including in the national teams.
Prof. Dr. Veaceslav Manolachi scientifically argued the pedagogical control as a factor of directing the training process of judokas at the performance stage. Also, he demonstrated optimization of the strength and speed of performance judokas at the sustainable stage of training, and contributed to the development of the theory and methodology of individual sports events.
